![]() | My name is Dr. Shawania Marshall, and I am the Founder of Unapologetically Empowered & Purposed. I am a native of Barbour County, Alabama, and I was proudly rooted in the church at a young age. My Christian foundation was established at Blue Springs Missionary Baptist Church, where I was actively involved in multiple roles, from singing in the choir, participating in various youth events, and serving on the usher board. My loving Mom and Grandparents ensured that myself and my sister learned about the Lord at a young age, and for this firm foundation, I am extremely grateful. As I grew older, I continued to really develop a love and passion for singing and speaking in church and in the community. Over the years, I have passionately and gracefully spoken on various platform and programs in the community seeking to inspire and encourage others. As a person, who aspires daily to become a better version of herself, Unapologetically Empowered & Purposed became a vision, that God placed in my heart to create in order to empower and encourage young ladies and matured women. Unapologetically Empowered & Purposed is a scriptural-centered organization, and my sincere vision is to continue to draw more women to Christ through empowerment, encouragement, and support. In addition, my mission is to continue utilizing my gifts to bless others. Over the last few years, I have felt as though I have been crippled and unable to utilize my gift of speaking on a larger platform after leaving my hometown, and now more than ever, I refuse to continue suppressing my talents that God has instilled in me. I am proud to create this organization to afford me the opportunity to fully manifest my spiritual gifts. Nevertheless, I have created my own platform and established my own organization that would serve the purpose to continue educating my sisters in Christ about God’s Word, and encouraging them about God’s love for us, and helping them to understand that regardless of the situation, with God, we can overcome any obstacle and challenges. |
As a servant of God, I have always been dedicated and committed to encouraging and uplifting others in my daily life, and this is a significant part of my life's purpose.
In closing, it would be remiss, if I did not acknowledge my educational background and organizations in which I am a member and volunteer that has also contributed to who I am as a woman. I possess a Bachelor’s in Broadcast Journalism/ Sports Information with a minor in Criminal Justice from Troy University. I obtained a Master’s in Education (Curriculum & Instruction) from the University of Phoenix, a Post-Baccalaureate Paralegal Certificate from Purdue University, a Master’s in Public Administration from Capella University, and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Public Policy and Administration from Walden University. I am a proud member of the NAACP, Gwinnett County Association of Educators, Georgia Association of Educators, National Educators Association, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
Lastly, two important quotes that I vehemently live by are the following: The Golden Rule: “Do Unto Others As You Have Them Do Unto You,” and “Be The Change That You Want to See in the World,” by Mahatma Ghandi!
